Training

The Club trains at the Rutland Sports Park, Ilkeston. Newcomers (see induction) aged 8 to 16 should initially attend the Saturday and / or Wednesday sessions. There are also event-specific training sessions on other days for invited athletes.

There is a small training fee per session and this varies from £2  to £3 depending on the day and session. Non-members pay £3.50 or £4.50 per session. Membership of the club is strongly encouraged in order to compete and take part in the full range of club activities.

Recreation Group
Children aged 8 to 11 will experience the basics of running, jumping, throwing, agility, fitness and coordination through a programme of activities led by a dedicated group of qualified coaches.

Foundation Group
Athletes aged 11+ will be led through the technical, fitness and coordination essentials of the sport and experience in small groups training for various events, for example  High jump, sprints, javelin ... etc  The club believes that it is beneficial to develop all-round athletic ability and potential. Early event specialisation is discouraged until an athlete is a little older.

Event Specific Groups
These tend to be for older or more experienced athletes who want more in depth  training for a  specific event.
The sessions are 'invitation only'.  If an athlete is interested please talk to the coaches.
