Hi all, Our AGM is coming - 7:30 Monday 4th November - Golf Pavilion (just past the car park for the track).
Please offer to get involved at whatever level you can. It's not as daunting as it might seem. We are friendly group of parents looking to continue to provide quality athletics and healthy social opportunities for our children and older athletes in a club environment. Please find attached the draft minutes of the last AVEAC Annual General Meeting. The Club made changes to the constitution that moved the AGM to October/November for a variety of reasons to help the club function more effectively. Between August 2018 and February 2019 most of the previous committee retired from their posts. We were unable to fill some of these posts. The current committee is..
General Committee Members (5)
Incumbents are happy to stand again in the above roles except:
All roles can be contested and decided by vote at the AGM. Unfilled named posts at this year's AGM will allow the new committee to co-opt people as General Committee Members with a view to dividing up committee tasks between us among a larger committee involving more people. If you wish to put yourself forward to help please find a proposer and a seconder (members over 16 or parents/carers of members U16) to email [email protected] by midnight Friday 1st November. Personally I would propose most of the parents I have spoken with as I know we all share common goals for our children. Please do ask questions. Message me or email [email protected] or phone 0795 210 7085 Karl Ponty Rec Group training (U11's) on 10/11/18 has been cancelled, because the Tennis Centre is not available. Foundation group athletes please meet & register down at the track.

From then on the Wednesday training session for those athletes in Foundation and Recreation Groups moves to the Tennis Centre, starting on Wednesday 3rd October. Saturdays: As from Saturday 6th October registration will be in the Tennis Centre. Although registering inside, we still have the track booked on Saturdays and groups will be using the track, throws and jumps areas as much as possible weather permitting throughout the winter months so come prepared for indoor and outdoor work every session. The Recreation Group will be based mostly inside although they too may take the opportunity to work outdoors including short supervised runs off site, so suitable warm clothing and a change of footwear will be needed. Format overview of Wednesdays sessions for Recreation and Foundation Groups as follows: Recreation Group (8 – 11years / primary school age) Time: 7 - 8pm Registration: 6.50 - 7.00pm Format: introductory skills and drills / fitness / event specific (including sports hall events) Age group: 8 - 11's Foundation Group (Secondary school age) Time: 7.05 - 8.30pm Registration: 6.50 - 7.05pm Format: skills and drills / fitness / event specific Age Group: This summer’s U13's and U15's and some U11s. Groups will take it in turns to do some training on the track (a variety of speed, steady state, middle distance running depending on the session). Middle Distance Group This group will continue to train on a Thursday evening throughout the winter, 7 to 8pm and the venue will change to the track at Rutland instead of Shipley Park. The Tuesday group will continue at the track as normal, also from 7pm to 8pm. All middle distance / cross country athletes are welcome to attend these sessions. Newcomers must be club members and should check with a Tuesday night group Middle Distance Coach first to make sure that the group is suitable for them and that the standard is appropriate. Middle distance training will also take place on Saturday mornings when there isn’t a Cross Country fixture taking place. Other Event Specific Groups Other event specific coaching groups for sprints, hurdles, jumps and throws will continue throughout the winter at a time and day as advised by the group coach.
